4:39 Someone went out to the field to gather some herbs and found a wild vine. ¹  He picked some of its fruit, ²  enough to fill up the fold of his robe. He came back, cut it up, and threw the slices ³  into the stew pot, not knowing they were harmful. ⁴

5:23 Naaman said, “Please accept two talents of silver. ⁵  He insisted, and tied up two talents of silver in two bags, along with two suits of clothes. He gave them to two of his servants and they carried them for Gehazi. ⁶

13:23 But the Lord had mercy on them and felt pity for them. ⁹  He extended his favor to them ¹⁰  because of the promise he had made ¹¹  to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He has been unwilling to destroy them or remove them from his presence to this very day. ¹²

17:27 So the king of Assyria ordered, “Take back one of the priests whom you ¹³  deported from there. He must settle there and teach them the requirements of the God of the land.” ¹⁴ 

2 Raja-raja 18:14

18:14 King Hezekiah of Judah sent this message to the king of Assyria, who was at Lachish, “I have violated our treaty. ¹⁵  If you leave, I will do whatever you demand.” ¹⁶  So the king of Assyria demanded that King Hezekiah of Judah pay three hundred talents ¹⁷  of silver and thirty talents of gold.

20:5 “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the leader of my people: ‘This is what the Lord God of your ancestor David says: “I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Look, I will heal you. The day after tomorrow ¹⁸  you will go up to the Lord’s temple.

22:9 Shaphan the scribe went to the king and reported, ¹⁹  “Your servants melted down the silver in the temple ²⁰  and handed it over to the construction foremen assigned to the Lord’s temple.”

[4:39]  ⁴ tc The Hebrew text reads, “for they did not know” (יָדָעוּ, yada’u) but some emend the final shureq (וּ, indicating a third plural subject) to holem vav (וֹ, a third masculine singular pronominal suffix on a third singular verb) and read “for he did not know it.” Perhaps it is best to omit the final vav as dittographic (note the vav at the beginning of the next verb form) and read simply, “for he did not know.” See M. Cogan and H. Tadmor, II Kings (AB), 59.

The singular has the support of Greek, Syriac, and Latin witnesses.

When used of metals it can refer to a disk-shaped weight made of the metal or to a standard unit of weight, generally regarded as a talent. Since the accepted weight for a talent of metal is about 75 pounds, this would have amounted to about 22,500 pounds of silver and 2,250 pounds of gold.
